Greed is Good: A 5th Level Adventure for 5th Edition

Long ago, when Pryhurst was a young town, a cult devoted to Vahdes, God of Greed, gained a foothold. They built a massive temple to their dark god and offered indulgences to the people in exchange for vast amounts of coin. When the followers of Odis arrived, they summoned forth the power of their god to smite the temple, destroying it and wiping out the cult. Unbeknownst to them, the high priest survived and fled into the temple's lower levels just as the building collapsed above him. He survived for weeks on rats and flesh of the dead until, in his last moments, he plead to his god for undeath so he could exact his revenge. Vahdes granted him his dying wish and, as his last breath left him, the high priest became something between life and death. In the centuries since, he has plotted and schemed. Now, his plans are finally coming to fruition. The high priest has enacted a ritual to siphon away divine power from Odis and deliver it unto Vahdes, empowering him so that he can slay Odis and have his revenge. The byproduct of this is that divine magic is failing in and around Pryhurst. Fearing that some sort of dark force has infiltrated their town, the council of seven seals the gates shortly after the caravan arrives and refuses to let anyone leave until the source of the divine troubles is discovered and dealt with.
