Death Has a Price: A 5th Level Adventure for 5th Edition

Zeden Dhasseil was never meant for greatness. Growing up poor in the small coastal town of Nightsbridge, he eked out a simple living working odd jobs for the local guilds. One night, he came across a truly gruesome sight: two men lie dead on the ground, both bodies blood-soaked, and a peculiar ornate dagger lying between them. Believing the dagger to be valuable, and with no one else around to claim it, Zeden picked up the weapon and fled into the moonlight. Later that night, as he tried to sleep, curled up around his new possession, Zeden had a dream. In it, the blade spoke to him, told him it could grant him immense power and show him a way to leave his sorry excuse for a life behind. When he awoke the next morning, he was a changed man. The dagger's words had taken hold. Now, all he needed to do was feed it.

Over the course of the next few weeks, bodies began to appear on the streets of Nightsbridge. Each appeared to be drained of life and bore a singular stab wound in the center of the torso. Fearing a serial killer was in their midst, the local governor put out a call for help, offering a substantial reward for whoever could uncover the killer's identity and bring them to justice. Eager to collect on the bounty, various mercenaries came to Nightsbridge to find the killer. One by one, they were found dead. Now, with the body count rising, it's up to the latest batch of adventurers to uncover who's behind the killings and stop them before it's too late.
