Call of the King: A 7th Level Adventure for 5th Edition

King Felix Lightfoot has long ruled the Severin Valley. A just king, he has fought off warlords, bandits, evil mages, and other such terrible adversaries in order to keep his people safe. In recent years, however, the king has become a bit of a recluse, rarely leaving his castle. He still holds important functions there and his knights keep peace across the land, so the populace doesn't seem to mind that their king rarely shows his face in public. What few know, is that the king is preparing for a terrible prophecy to take place. One of his seers prophesized that during the next great solar eclipse... an event only nine days away from the start of this adventure... a great demon would arise and destroy the king's castle and all within it. In order to prepare for this event, the king has been gathering monsters and men with loose morals and storing them in his dungeon. He plans on having a tournament to determine who is the strongest in the land so he can hopefully pit them against the demon when it arrives and avert the destruction of his kingdom. To this end, he's put out a call for all worthy adventurers to come to his castle to lend the kingdom aid in a time of need.
